About Me

Hi there, Im a recovering alcholic / addict, and i am now over 12 yrs sober from alcohol, been dealing with addictions all my life as long as i can remember. I am currently fighting the demon of prescription pain killers, oxycocet and diazepam, i was given it a couple years ago for pain, headaches and valium (diazepam) for  anxiety , its been a rough time but have got myself down from 8 to 10 tablets a day to 6 or 7 and the diazepam Im down to three quarters of a ten mg one day and half the next, next week im tapering to half for two days then three quarters , i was at the naturapathic doctor and she gave me the schedule and its going Ok some days are really hard and others are Ok I found this site and am already addicted to it like a true addict that i am :-) I hope to help someone out there thats possibly struggling with the same things i have and beat and hoping for answers to my issues as well :-) thanks for listening....... VENUS

UPDATED ON AUG. 16th

Ok on day 9 almost 10 of NO NARCOTIC PAIN MEDS, yahhhhh im so happy i did it but now Im struggling with energy issues Im sure quite a few will know of these if u have any suggestions that would be great.. Update for Aug 26th on day 19 no OPIATES and starting to feel like my old self again, not craving them which is just awesome, cuz i really hated them at the end, i despised that i was continuing taking those awful pills now Im down to .5 mg of Diazepam a day i will do that for another week then a quarter then NONE of those either, i am here for others, if u are struggling with pain pill addiction, TALK TO ME, i really have some good info and answers for you... Venus , one day at a time... An Easy does it my friends and family here. UPdate 3 weeks today since i gave up the pain killers and slowly weening off the diazepam, i really want that outta my system but slow and steady wins the race :-) keep up the good work all u who are struggling in sobriety the others struggling with addiction get help and reach out , its so worth it:-)

Venus,

You have been a great help to many struggling addicts here on Ask An Addict. With your advice, support and help that you give to so many that feel they are alone. Your courage, strength and determination to overcome your addictions has been inspiring to everyone on this site. You are here almost daily helping others anyway you can. Because of your continued support with Ask An Addict, you now have the title "Sober Coach" under your profile name. This is given out to members of the site who have shown a consistent determination on not only their own sobriety, but also helping others here with their's.

Thanks for all you do and for taking the time to let others know they're not alone.
