what should I treat an abcess from missing a shot of methn

3 days ago I missed a shot of meth and it's abcessed.  It's red, warm to the touch, about 2 inches long about 1/2 hilch high.  I have been taking cipro, naproxen, ibuprophen and been using warm compresses.  What else should I do? Should I be using cold compress instead? Please I need some tips immediately. I don't really wanna goto doctor.....

I am all to familiar with abcesses, I hope I do not seem harsh but this infection could kill you, you need medical attention and antibiotics and have it lanced. Meth is a horrible drug and will take everything from you, it wants you dead. My daughter is a heroin addict, in recovery, and she almost died from a needle infection. She recently said to me, it is fun until it is not. Think about life on the other side, it is a good life when you are not controlled by drugs. Good Luck to you.

I'm not a medical expert, but everyone here is right. It sounds like you Need an Expert! Why a person would want to endanger their physical health & mental health like this is beyond me. (Loose, black teeth or no teeth, too?). But my daughter does meth so I don't know. It seems like a blood clot could travel to your heart & kill you. Someone has suggested to make a list of the things that meth has taken from you & a list of the things it has given you. One list is alot longer than the other. I hope you get help. But with an addiction, it's tempting to go for the short term "fix" to everything in life I suppose.

Medical attention is needed as the others have stated.

My son was a IV meth user until he almost died. Have you heard of cotton fever?

Meth is such a nasty drug and I hope that you will let this serve as a wake up call.

The destinations for active meth addicts are limited to 3 places: you could wind up in

1) jail/prison

2) institutionalized due to psychotic episodes and severe depression

3) cemetary

Drug abuse = no and or a very bleak future.

My son detoxed in jail for 34 days, no pain. He suffers now from clinical depression due the severe chemical imbalance that meth has caused, and we are uncertain what long term effects he will suffer.

Please please seek medical attention for the infection, and help for your addiction.

We are a supportive group here. We care. Please keep us posted.

You are not alone and there is a sooooo much better life than you are living now.

PLEASE get help from a doctor!!!  My son was injecting heroin and opioids for 6 months to a year.  He was admitted to the hospital in a severely confused state and it was finally determined that bacteria was passed from his skin into his vein and then to his heart, spinal cord, and brain.  The bacteria completely ate away his Aortic valve! He is 21 years old and just had open heart surgery to put a mechanical valve in.  He spent a month in the hospital on IV antibiotics.  The doctor told us that no matter how well you clean the skin or how clean the needle is, each time you inject, you pass bacteria into your bloodstream. It's no joke, please get help!

Hello, and I see that many of us have tried to steer you in the right direction.  Whatever you decide to do about your addiction, for the moment you must get medical help.  I know of a man who died from a staph infection from exactly what you're speaking of.  Then there is MRSA, an infection that is nearly impossible to treat and kills many.  Cipro is not strong enough to take care of this infection.  You could consider going to a walk-in clinic and show them the infection.  You would only need to answer their questions.  Go now!

My daughter became extremely ill from a needle abscess.  She did go to the ER, only to ignore the recommended treatment because she did not have the script filled.  Three days later she called me begging to go to a hospital.  Her arm was hideous, and she was wasting away.  I took her to the ER and she was admitted, and given IV antibiotics.

Hospitals are forbidden from turning sick people away from the ER.  Save your life and get to a hospital.

Somewhere, a part of somebody is dying with you because of your addiction.  Your mom, dad, sister, brother, friend.  Everytime you use, that special part of that person, the part of them that is 'YOU',  curls up and cries out for salvation. You did not ask to become an addict.  We know that. We believe you have the strength to save your life. Please do the next right thing and seek treatment for your addiction too.

Why not try chasing medical help like you chase your next high?  You have been given good advice and I would suggest that you heed it.
