Nerve Damage due to Meth use????

A friend of mine, a meth addict has recently started doing something peculiar with her mouth and we are both wondering if it is nerve damage due to meth use.  When she is high, her lower lip tends to droop to the right side.  She says she can feel this happening and she is very worried.  She slams and smokes meth but usually slams it.  Has anyone heard anything about meth use and nerve damage?  Please help!!!

Meth use causes extreme amount of the neurotransmitter dopamine to be released...the dopamine stores eventually become depleted, as the nerve cells cannot keep up with the amount of dopamine released and not returned to the cells and this in turn can cause nerve damage.....

Constant abuse of alot of drugs including alcohol will eventually cause nerve damage and meth is no exception but she sounds like the meth is really starting to take control of her body. If I were you and i would try and get her some help before some of the damage become more and more permanent.

It could be very possible that she is being warned of an impending stroke. This is her wake up call that it is time to quit. I have seen addicts that stroked out from doing drugs and believe me it is not pretty.

The blood pressure rises tremendously when doing meth and if she isn't constantly drinking water she will likely incur some organ damage as well.

Please try and get through to her. Sincerely, searchin

As a couple of others have mentioned the word stroke came to mind. I'm not a doctor but I've seen it happen too many times.

Hopefully your friend makes the right decision before it's too late.
