Welcome to Ask An Addict — Why I Brought This Community Back
Welcome to Ask An Addict. I originally created this community more than a decade ago after seeing addiction affect people I love. I realized how difficult it was for families to find honest answers from people who truly understood what addiction and recovery can look like. I am not an addict myself, but addiction has touched my family deeply. This community is for people currently struggling, people living in recovery, family members, friends, and anyone trying to understand. You can ask difficult questions, share your experience, read quietly, or offer encouragement. You never have to reveal your real name or share anything that makes you uncomfortable. This is a peer-support community, not a replacement for medical care, treatment, or emergency services. What we can offer is something equally important: honest conversation, lived experience, compassion, and the reminder that nobody has to face this alone. Please treat every person here with dignity. Behind every post is a real human being who may be carrying more than we can see. I’m glad you found us. — Matt Founder, Ask An Addict
