Terms of Use
These terms explain the basic rules for using Ask An Addict. By creating an account or using the community, you agree to follow them.
1. Adults only
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, post, reply, react, or send private messages.
2. Peer support—not professional care
Ask An Addict is a peer-support community. Member posts reflect personal experiences and opinions. They are not medical, mental-health, legal, or emergency advice and should not replace care from a qualified professional. If someone may be in immediate danger, contact emergency services or an appropriate crisis resource.
3. Community conduct
Be honest, compassionate, and respectful. Do not harass, threaten, exploit, impersonate, expose private information, promote illegal activity, sell controlled substances, post scams or spam, or encourage dangerous behavior. Follow the Community Guidelines.
4. Accounts and privacy
Keep access to your email account secure. Use a screen name if you wish, and do not post information that could put you or someone else at risk. You are responsible for activity performed through your account.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of content you submit. By posting it, you give Ask An Addict permission to store, display, format, and distribute it as needed to operate and moderate the community. Anonymous posting hides your screen name from other members, but authorized administrators may still need to associate the post with your account for safety and moderation.
6. Moderation
We may review, approve, decline, restrict, or remove content and may suspend accounts when reasonably necessary to protect members, enforce these terms, or operate the site. Moderation cannot guarantee that every harmful or inaccurate post will be found immediately.
7. Availability and outside links
The community may change or be temporarily unavailable. Links to outside organizations are provided for convenience; Ask An Addict does not control their content, availability, or services.
8. Changes
These terms may be updated as the community develops. The effective date at the top will be changed when a revised version is posted. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
