About Me

I have been an alcoholic for about 5 years and abusing prescription narcotics pain med's for about 7 years. I just about killed myself 2 years  with low sodium and potassium and in hospital for 5 weeks. I did not learn my lesson nor God's free pass on life and started drinking and abusing my pain meds and drinking a year later. i decided on a Sunday, 6 weeks ago, to stop the nonsense and had my pain doctor  (I have real chronic pain) taking me off oxycodone and put me on methadone and stopped drinking. I checked myself into DETROX and have had an alcohol free life. I go to  an AA meeting daily and also attended  outpatient classes MARC -  Multiple Addiction and Recovery Center for 6 weeks and now attend  (after MARC class completion) session every Wednesday a.m. I have not made it through the 12 step program in AA but working it. My biggest challenge was finding my higher power and handing my ills over to him. I am making progress and have succumbed to my higher power. I feel I am on the long journey to recovery and work my sobriety and drug controlled life daily.
